The international conference "Radical Orthodoxies", June 8-9, 2021, organized by Luca Di Blasi and Elad Lapidot, seeks an interreligious discussion about the contours of a growing field of intellectual endeavors, which seek to undergird the critique of modernity, to perform postmodernism, by reactivating intellectual traditions considered to be deactivated by the rise of modernity, first and foremost through the discourse of secularism.

Prof. Dr. Katharina Heyden is a cooperation partner of the Bavarian Research Center for Interreligious Discourses at the University of Erlangen, which was opened in October 2020.
The center examines the content and key concepts of Islam, Christianity and Judaism in comparison and is particularly committed to the transfer of knowledge to society.

Collegium generale: Interdisciplinarity, virtual meeting, May 7-8, 2021

In universities and beyond, “interdisciplinarity” has become a buzzword: Interfaculty enters are founded to foster interdisciplinary exchange; funding institutions increase their budgets for interdisciplinary research; and study programs that integrate contributions from several disciplines are trending. But is the hype about interdisciplinarity well placed? What is interdisciplinary research, to begin with? What are its chances and possible pitfalls? How can interdisciplinary research be promoted in an effective way? The Münchenwiler seminar invites researchers to step back from their daily engagement in interdisciplinary research and to reflect on the future of scholarly disciplines as well as of interdisciplinary approaches.

In his latest book, Dr. Anoush Ganjipour, associate researcher at IFK, sheds light on political thought in Islam in a historical-genealogical perspective.
